The Nasca and Palpa lines are one of the most important legacies of Peruvian pre-Inca cultures located between the valleys of Nazca and Palpa. In this vast desert enormous figures are placed in perfect harmony as geometric lines and figures of animals, plants, humans and gods. There are many scientists, researchers, who have raised a number theories interpreting the set of lines as an astronomical calendar or a place of water worship built by the Paracas and Nasca (600 BC – 750 AD).
Tour description
This tour is best timed beginning at 8:30 am. We drive close to the city of Palpa, where ancient figures drawn on the hillsides appear as the Paracas family. Our guide will explain the existing hypothesis, theories about these figures.
After this visit we go to Maria Reiche Museum where this German researcher lived for over 50 years dedicating studies for the Nasca lines. After this visit we will stop at the Nasca viewpoint observing two figures; the toad (frog, also known as hand) and the tree. Our guide explained the meaning behind these figures, returning to the city we stop to enter the pampas and arrive at a small mountain. From there we can see many lines, know the lines of summer solstice and winter solstice. We wonder at them from much closer and calculate the dimensions and depth of them. End of service and return to their hotels.
